With more than 120,000 marriage licenses issued annually, Las Vegas reigns as the world’s wedding capital. Ways to get hitched vary from lavish hotel ceremonies to a 24-hour drive-through chapel with an Elvis look-alike presiding. Helicopter weddings, Red Rocks weddings, limo weddings and horseback weddings are also on tap.
Madame Tussauds Las Vegas
As with the London icon and now other locations including Amsterdam and Hong Kong, Madame Tussauds Las Vegas includes lifelike wax recreations of popular entertainers, politicians, athletes and other pop culture figures, offering interactive experiences as well.
Las Vegas Golf
The town has golf courses that could rival any in the nation in difficulty. There are well over 60 golf courses. Some of Las Vegas' premier courses include the Wolf, Badlands, and the Falls.
Floyd Lamb State Park
Four stocked ponds, picnic areas, barbecues, scenic paths, volleyball and horseshoe facilities are on this 2,040-acre park northwest of Las Vegas. Visitors can explore the Tule Springs Ranch, known as one of the North American west’s best examples of Pleistocene paleontology sites. Fossil remains of mammoths, bison, horses, camels, and other animals have been found in Tule Springs.
Red Rock Canyon
Some 20 miles from Las Vegas, Red Rock rises in a 3,000-foot wall of red, pink, and cream-colored Aztec sandstone. Red Rock Canyon is a good place for climbing or hiking, and has picnic sites, where you can enjoy a break while gazing over views of wooded canyons and great stretches of the desert. Exceptionally hard sandstone offers long, continuous crack lines and steep, exposed face climbing. Despite Las Vegas proximity, Red Rock retains a wilderness feeling, with few established trails and most approaches involving easy cross-country travel.
Mt. Charleston
Miles of hiking and biking trails about 30 miles from Las Vegas. The pine forests provide great picnic spots, horseback riding in the summer and skiing in the winter.
Bonnie Springs Ranch
Half and hour drive from glittering Las Vegas, Old Nevada still lives. With tumbleweeds, stagecoaches, and saloons, Bonnie Springs Old Nevada is the epitome of John Wayne country. There are great attractions here for children as well, with a horseback riding and a petting zoo. There are also historic exhibits, and occasional Western shows along its streets.
Hoover Dam
Hoover Dam was constructed in order to harness the power of the Colorado River. It is 726 feet high and 600 feet thick at its base, but it is at the observation points on top where the view is truly breathtaking. The Visitor Center offers exhibits and historic film footage, while the cafeteria and gift shop offer refreshments and souvenirs.
Lake Mead National Recreation Area
Lake Mead National Recreation Area (NRA) offers a wealth of things to do and places to go year-round. Its huge lakes cater to boaters, swimmers, sunbathers, and fishermen while its desert rewards hikers, wildlife photographers, and roadside sightseers. The area also contains an amazing variety of plants and animals, some of which may be found nowhere else in the world.

Still many of you might leave feeling you only sampled a small amount of attractions, and outdoor activities compared to the vast array available.
